Snell & Wilcox
1989-2004
Stuart has extensive experience in the development and
application of technology using phase correlation motion
estimation. During his period at Snell & Wilcox he
was responsible for leveraging phase correlation technology
into archive restoration, compression and deinterlacing
markets. In the latter case, this required a fundamental
re-development of the technology to reduce size, cost
and power consumption.
Stuart has been responsible for the development of many
products during his 15-year tenure at Snell & Wilcox
including DEFT which received an Emmy award for outstanding
contribution to standards conversion. He was responsible
for the development of several other award winning products
such as the flagship conversion product Alchemist, Prefix
and the widely acknowledged image restoration platform
Archangel.
Over the years, Stuart has developed and implemented
many algorithms for applications such as dropout compensation,
archive restoration, compression pre-filtering and composite
decoding and holds a number of patents for these techniques.
In 1995 Stuart was awarded the Royal Television Society
Engineer of the year award.
Plessey Military Communications
from 1984-1989
During his period at Plessey, Stuart gained invaluable
experience in analogue circuit design using S-parameter
modelling.
He developed a good understanding of wireless communications
and was overall responsible for modular transmitter and
receiver designs in the VHF and UHF frequency bands.
Edinburgh University 1980-1984
Stuart graduated with First Class Honours in Electrical
and Electronic Engineering from Edinburgh University in
1984. |
